Zambia Sugar PLC has launched a new company-wide initiative aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening the business against an increasingly volatile and challenging operating environment.
Dubbed “Driving Cost Efficiencies Through Internal Co-Creation”, the programme brings together more than 200 leaders from across the organisation to identify practical and sustainable solutions that will support the Company’s ambition of remaining a low-cost producer.
The initiative, spearheaded by Managing Director Mr. Oswald Magwenzi, comes at a time when businesses around the world are navigating a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment. For Zambia Sugar, these challenges have included the effects of extreme weather conditions, droughts, power shortages, foreign exchange fluctuations, and mounting pressures in both local and international markets.
Recognising the need for a coordinated and proactive response, the Company has mobilised its internal expertise to build greater resilience and ensure the long-term sustainability of the business.
The programme is being led by Finance Director Mr. Hezron Musonda and Business Improvement Director Mr. Simbarashe Garaba, who will work closely with teams throughout the organisation to strengthen accountability, encourage innovation, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Through the initiative, Zambia Sugar aims to harness the collective knowledge and experience of its employees to unlock efficiencies and identify opportunities that will enhance performance across its operations.
Speaking on the importance of the programme, the Company’s leadership emphasized that sustainable success in today’s business environment requires collaboration, innovation, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
By bringing together some of its brightest minds, Zambia Sugar is reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence and positioning itself as a resilient and future-ready business capable of delivering sustainable profitability and long-term value for stakeholders.
The initiative marks another step in Zambia Sugar’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its competitiveness and maintain its position as one of the country’s leading agribusiness companies.
