Speaking during a safety engagement event, company leadership highlighted the importance of making safety a way of life rather than treating it as a compliance requirement.

“We want all of us who are part of the Zambia Sugar supply chain to think of ourselves as one workplace. If we are one workplace, and we all uphold the same standards, then we will succeed together,” the speaker said.

While Zambia Sugar remains committed to its role in feeding the nation, the company emphasized that it does not want to fulfil this important responsibility at the expense of people’s wellbeing.

“We are feeding the nation, but we do not want to do this noble job of feeding people whilst we are hurting people,” the speaker said.
